Reginald "Reggie" B. Smith, Jr. was born and raised in Sherman, Texas.
Reggie is the founder and owner of Reginald B. Smith, Jr. PLLC, which he established in 2003. In 1991, he received his B.A. in the field of Political Science from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. In college, he was active in the school's renowned Model United Nations Program and various other social science activities, which, along with his academic record, earned him a nomination to and membership in the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society. In 1994, he earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in Houston Texas. In law school he was involved in moot court and mock trial. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November of 1994. He is licensed to practice in Texas, the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Reggie practices before the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Texas, as well as state courts across Texas. While he has tried a large number of cases to a verdict/judgment in a variety of subject matters, he has focused his practice in the areas of family and general civil litigation. He is a member of several professional associations, including the Texas State Bar and Grayson County Bar Association. Reggie has been recognized, locally, as the "Best in Texoma" in the field of Family Law which he received for three years in a row.
Reggie has also been active in various local charitable organizations. He has served on the board of Big Brother Big Sisters, the Local Boy Scout Chapter, The Rehab Center and other civic organizations. He has also coached a number of local little league teams. He and his family are members of First Baptist Church in Van Alstyne, Texas. During the Republican Primary of 2014, Reggie was elected to serve as the Chairman of the Grayson County Republican Party. In June of that year, Reggie began serving in that capacity. He was unopposed in his reelection to said post in 2016 and will begin his second term in June of that same year. Reggie has also been elected to serve as the Northern Regional Director of the Texas Republican County Chairman's Association. In November of 2018, Reggie was elected to serve as the Texas State Representative for District 62. He currently serves on the Texas House Appropriations Committee and the Texas House Judiciary/Civil Jurisprudence Committee.
